Horseback Riding and Traditional Bulgarian Lunch in the Rose Valley - Day Tour from Plovdiv

From Plovdiv to the Foothills of the Balkan Mountains

We will pick you up from an address of your choice in Plovdiv and head toward the Rose Valley and the majestic Balkan Mountains. About an hour later, we will arrive in a small village nestled within the mysterious Sredna Gora mountains. There, we will meet our hosts and their horses.

In our hosts' courtyard, you will discover something you might not expect to see in a Bulgarian village: an authentic yurt. Nearby are the horses we will ride for the next two hours. The family has been raising horses for over 20 years, upholding the traditions of their ancestors who once galloped across the steppes of Kyrgyzstan.

Today, as their guests, we will have the chance to explore this corner of the Rose Valley just as they know it best—from the saddle. We will follow a small mountain river along hidden trails, with beautiful vistas unfolding before us.

Our route leads to a low, rocky hill where we will dismount to explore a Thracian sanctuary. We will see hollows carved into the rock—resembling small sacrificial altars—believed to have been used in ancient Thracian rituals. From the top of the hill, a panoramic view of the Rose Valley and the majestic ridge of the Balkan Mountains awaits, before we make our way back to the village. A Traditional Bulgarian 

Lunch with Our Hosts

After the horseback ride, we will return to our hosts' home, where a traditional Bulgarian lunch awaits us.

If the weather is nice, we will dine outdoors, under the trees. On colder days, our hosts will set the table inside the yurt. We will have time to enjoy the meal and chat before we take you back to your specified location in Plovdiv.
